Vinyl Graphics FAQ's

Are vinyl graphics removable?

Vinyl is removable. It removes fairly easily with a little bit of heat.

Can it damage a vehicles paint or glass?

While it is possible, most newer vehicles with decent paint will suffer no harm from removing vinyl

What type of vinyl do you use?

Mainly two kinds. FDC cast and FDC calendared. Cast has a 7 year outdoor life while calendared has a 6 year outdoor life. Which one I use mainly depends on the application. Cast is thinner and forms to curved surfaces better but I prefer calendared for flatter surfaces because it seems to be more durable.

I got a lower quote, can you match it?

I try to be very competitive in pricing. I have no hidden costs what so ever. No digitizing fees, cutter fees, etc. If you bring me an out the door quote from another company, I will try my best to beat it. There is a lot of ways companies will cut costs to give you that "great price" but I promise you they aren't taking it out of their profits.

I have a logo already...can you make it into a sticker for me ?

Sure! One thing that sets me apart from my competition, is I have a very strong graphic art background. I can remake almost any logo into vector for plotting. Most times I don't even charge to do it.

What is the font creation charge?

The font creation charge is one of the few add on charges I have. If you logo or design includes a font and you know what it is, you have nothing to worry about. If I have to try find and match the font, or redraw the font, there will be an extra charge from $5-$20.

What file format should I send you?

If you have your logo in a .EPS format, that is the best to start with as most I can import directly in. If .EPS isn't available, then a regular .jpg, .gif, etc is the best. The more clear the image the better.

Can my sticker have a clear background?

Most stickers I make have no background at all. Each letter is it's own individual piece. They are applied as one piece, then the application tape is removed, leaving only the vinyl on the surface. I can install for you and I have application directions available to all customers, just ask!

How hard is it to install them?

That totally depends on the size of the sticker and what it is going on to. Most stickers can easily be installed by someone with no experience if you follow my instructions. I am always here to answer any questions too so you don't ever have to go it alone.

How much do you charge to install them for me?

The price is calculated into the final price of the job.  Smaller stickers I do not charge for installation.

Can I get a discount if I order bigger quanities?

With bigger quantities  I can always give some sort of discount. Also, ask about my return customer program.

What is your return customer program?

Say you purchase 5 stickers for you club at a quantity price of $5ea. A month later, another member joins and you need one more sticker. I will charge you only $5 even if you just order one.

How come some smaller stickers are so expensive?

Keep in mind that while I do stock lots of colors, some special colors have to be ordered and I can only order whole roll. So for a 2"x2" sticker of a rare color, my cost is extremely high. I try to keep scraps of odd colors around, just for that purpose.

How do you price your jobs?

I tried using a square inch method and it just didn't work out. I price every job individually. I base my prices on design and prep time, cutting time, material useage, amount of colors and cost of colors, assembly time, and application time.

Why choose Type-X Designs? What makes you stand out?

I started this as a hobby, NOT a business. I enjoy doing this and take a lot of pride in it. I specialize in show cars and custom work, and I carry that same quality over to every job I do. I will go out of my way to meet your budget and get you the graphics you want. I take even better care of my returning customers. And if your still not sure, I'll put you in touch with past and current customers and you can ask them for yourself.
